Volunteer Testimonials

I had been searching for a dog to adopt for months and, after dozens of applications without luck, I applied through Harbor of Hope. I did not get the dog I applied for but this rescue was the first to follow up and say that if I was patient, they would love to be a part of my journey to adopting a dog. I eventually adopted Aurora and she has been my best friend for over a year now. They have continued to support me and Aurora well after the adoption and I have connected with the organization and the volunteers in a way I never expected. Eventually, I felt compelled to volunteer to support the rescue that has given me so much and to contribute to a cause that I know firsthand its impacts.

I joined the HHDR family back in November 2020 when I adopted my Heeler mix, Jesse. Through conversation with Heather, his foster Mom and lead of Harbor of Hope Dog Rescue, learned about their need for more Fosters and just Volunteers in general. I had no idea the admin tasks that go on behind the scenes!

I probably won’t always be able to Foster, but I can definitely help out by offering some of my time. From suggesting fundraising ideas, organizing events, and networking to promoting adoptable dogs, to helping go through and approve acceptable applications - everything takes time. We have a fantastic team that is so very supportive and thankful for assistance - I could not be happier to have joined the team. I feel like I’ve met my people! Fellow animal lovers with huge hearts and a similar mission to save as many pups as possible.
